I have a workflow in WFD which facilitates a horribly complex business model (appointing freelancers) and, as a result, said workflow has millions of fields and trillions of conditions*.
It would be really handy if I could push a button which generates/outputs a spreadsheet from WFD showing:
- the name of each field, it's type, whether it is visible in Repository, where it is used, and, when used in a form - is it conditional and if so in which condition etc.
- the name of each condition, where it is used etc.
WHY? Two, maybe three main reasons:
I am a big picture person (building multiple workflows for various areas of the business). Being able to see all the field attributes and conditions that have been built in any given workflow would be SO HELPFUL:
- It would enable me to figure out when I can reuse fields, questions and conditions in other workflows
- It would assist me when working with application owners and users (who may not be tech nerds) for other other platforms with which Ironclad needs to align or integrate
- It would give me something tangible to discuss with to my stakeholders (also not tech nerds and to whom I do not wish to give Admin access for WFD) when we are starting to design and conceptualise an Ironclad solution to support a complex business process. (I would be happy to share more about how essential and useful it was when we were designing, building and testing our freelancer workflow. It took AGES to manually put together a spreadsheet that we could use to figure out logic requirements).
In case of interest, I attach a spreadsheet giving some ideas AND a couple of samples of what we actually used with our stakeholders.
I appreciate that Ironclad is all about simplicity and intuition and what I am suggesting could be interpreted as a significant step in the other direction. But, unfortunately, the business models and processes which Ironclad often needs to support, integrate and align are rarely simple and I am desperately looking for something to assist me with managing the transformation from analogue to digital business model. (And yes, I have considered threats and bribes to just simplify your business models ...but not sure how they would be received.)
