Ironclad announced today updated Editor Permissions and, in reviewing it, it looks like one feature was added while another was taken away (see below):
What does this mean for my users?
On July 6th, all users who previously were permissioned with “no” Editor access will default to Comment Only. Since Comment Only mode will now be the lowest level of permissions available in the Editor, users will now be able to view comments they are tagged in by teammates and respond to internal comments at the document level.
I am posting to start a conversation to determine how folks intend to get around this functionality. My team is in the middle of a very long, and complicated, implementation with SFDC so we are are not yet live, but this recent announcement is another reason for us to keep Sales in Salesforce and out of Ironclad. We want to work collaboratively with our Sales Team, but there is time in the process where that collaboration is helpful and other times where it is a hindrance.
For example, if the Sales team wants to upload a version and add comments to the document because the customer sent comments in an email, or they have additional context from conversations with the customer's business team - helpful. If after they have submitted it to Legal, they want to comment on every redline we are making in the document - not helpful.
Thematically - we are having this struggle (raised by our Sales Focus Groups during this implementation) that where there are multiple documents and/or functions that they shouldn't use, they would prefer that we (my company) can turn it off for their user group but alas the Ironclad User Group functionality is not as sophisticated from a role-based access control perspective to lock things down the way the Legal Team and the Sales Team would prefer. I have also submitted a new feature request here about needing better role-based access so that comments in the Activity Feed and the Editor are controlled better by: Internal - ALL, Internal - Legal Only, External.
How are other folks planning to manage this without the technical functionality to prohibit commenting?
