What You'll Do...
The Director of Legal Operations will handle all operational matters relating to the Legal Function and the delivery of legal services to internal clients, including administrative matters pertaining to finances and budgeting, outside counsel and other vendors, and the legal department’s utilization of information technology.
- Report to the Chief Legal Officer and is a member of the Legal Leadership Team
- Responsible for the roadmap, implementation and rollout of strategic and tactical initiatives identified by the Legal Leadership Team
- Drive system governance for all common tools used across the department
- Lead change management and adoption of processes and technology
- Review legal department financial reports, accounts payable, and work-in-process reports to update the Chief Legal Officer regarding the department’s short-range outlook and the efficient delivery of legal services to internal clients
- Coordinate planning and implementation related to the legal department’s use of technology, services, and processes, including existing and potential technology/process approaches
- Effectively interact with the Company’s IT Department and other Legal Department personnel in planning and implementing new technology projects and software changes
- Coordinate with Sourcing to drive optimization of the contract lifecycle management solution as it pertains to the delivery of legal services to minimize overlap, reduce cost, and improve efficiency
- Optimize operational effectiveness through identifying productivity opportunities and implementing programs, processes, and tools/technology to improve departmental workflow and processes
- Responsible for the financial management of total legal spending including budgeting, forecasting, and budget to actual variance management
- Administer the process for using outside counsel, including retention procedures, budget management, and evaluation of the success of the program
- Develop and track metrics as a means of measuring and communicating departmental goals and progress
- Supervise operations support resources as well as other legal support resources
- Provide ongoing training and support on processes and technologies for all legal department resources
- Oversee system administration for legal technology solutions
What You'll Bring To The Team...
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 8+ years of work experience, with a minimum of 3 years of experience managing the operations of a law department
- Minimum 3 years supervising a team
- Experience managing financial, IT, and other administrative or operational projects
- Experience using and managing technology utilized by in-house legal departments; Legal Tracker (Legal billing software), iManage (document management), and Apptus (CLM) technology solutions preferred
- PMP qualification is desirable
- Self-starter, detail oriented and organized, who can manage multiple projects and meeting deadlines
- Strong knowledge of business processes, legal technology solutions and best practices
- Experience with project management techniques and methodologies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
