The Truist Legal Department is looking for an experienced legal professional as head of its legal operations team. This position has oversight over all aspects of legal operations, supporting a growing Truist legal organization. This includes oversight of vendor and law firm management (including contract negotiations, budgeting, and forecasting), legal technology platforms (such as matter management and other applications) as well as serving as liaison with enterprise Information Technology groups, legal intake processes, knowledge management, reporting and analytics, project management, and the eDiscovery team. The position will report to the Deputy General Counsel of Litigation and Legal Operations and lead a team that facilitates the objectives of the Legal Department, Truist and its affiliates and subsidiaries. The teammate will collaborate with multiple stakeholders including various Legal teams that comprise the Legal Department, IT, Risk, Finance, Sourcing, HR, Enterprise Data and other teammates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
1. Leads the legal operations team which provides significant internal client support for the Legal Department.
2. Responsible for overseeing all areas of legal operations and eDiscovery for Truist, including vendor (primarily law firm) management and legal billing, support and innovation surrounding legal technological systems, tools, processes, and analytical capabilities, reporting and analytics, knowledge management platforms, legal intake processes, licensing submissions, and project management for key legal initiatives.
3. Keeps abreast of technology and legal developments in eDiscovery that affect the company and the banking industry.
4. Collaborates with practice groups across the Legal Department to assess areas where Legal Operations can innovate, improve or establish processes to support the strategic direction of the Legal Department, including efficiency, consistency, and cost-containment measures;
5. Negotiates outside counsel agreements and rate structures;
6. Supervises a team, providing work direction and supervision to attorneys, paralegals, legal professionals, and administrative assistants;
7. Collaborates with risk and compliance partners on systems, processes, and initiatives;
8. Presents strategic initiatives and provides other reports to senior executives.
QUALIFICATIONS

1. Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school and licensed to practice law in good standing.
2. Ten years of in-house legal experience.
3. Possess effective personnel management skills.
4. Experience building and managing teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
5. Possess superior written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
6. Ability to prioritize matters, utilize time management skills, and move between matters fluidly.
7. Ability to handle a heavy workload, manage stress effectively and meet critical deadlines.

11. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products, including M365, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint, business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, Tableau), and legal specific technology such as matter management and ebilling systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience or related training in the financial services industry;
2. Experience in a corporate legal department having successfully held positions of advancing responsibility with at least 5 years of Legal Operations experience strongly preferred;
3. An educational focus on business or finance;
4. Comfortable working in the entrepreneurial environment of a large, complex corporation;
5. eDiscovery expertise.
