The Sr. Program Manager of Legal Operational Excellence role brings an opportunity to make an impact supporting the Medtronic Performance System in the Legal organization. This role will specifically drive process improvement projects across all parts of the function, build up the capability within the function for process improvement, and prioritize projects in accordance with the business strategies of the Legal function. The position responsibilities would include developing, implementing, and sustaining process improvement initiatives/projects utilizing Lean/Six Sigma methodologies. In addition, the role would define, design, and implement a continuous improvement program for the Legal organization ensuring it is vertically and horizontally integrated across the organization. The role would also be expected to establish and maintain performance metrics to measure overall program success. Reporting directly to the Sr. Director of Legal Operations – Administration and Management, this role will have a major impact across the entire Legal function.
This position will reside in our Fridley, MN office and will follow the hybrid work model.
A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Primary focus on process improvement projects to drive pain point elimination across the Legal function.
- Facilitate the aggregation, prioritization, and scheduling of process improvement opportunities
- Develop, implement, and sustain process improvement initiatives utilizing Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
- Define the metrics and KPIs to measure success of each project and the overall program.
- Build a program to sustain and grow process improvement talent/capabilities across the Legal function
- Coach Green Belt and Black Belt candidates and support their certifications
- Support legacy MOS High Maturity groups already established in Legal with coaching and mentoring as needed
- Ensure the Medtronic Performance System is accurately deployed in within Legal.
- Collaborate with other Opex Professionals to manage the Medtronic Performance System program with a consistent approach across Medtronic.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of continuous process improvement project experience, or an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience
Nice to Have
- Lean Six Sigma (Master) Black Belt certification
- Consistent application of project management leadership and extensive application of continuous process improvement methodologies such as DRM, Lean, Six Sigma or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in cross functional programs in consulting capacity.
- 5+ years of experience in teaching, coaching, mentoring, and consulting.
- 2-4 years of proven success in a MBB leadership role.
- Strong and demonstrable project management skills: planning & coordinating, communicating & influencing, achieving milestones, resolving issues, and managing risks.
- Strong project leadership, ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
- Innovative, passionate, and able to inspire people at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent facilitation and issue resolution skills.
- Experience working in a regulated environment.
- Financial acumen
- Master’s degree in engineering, business, or related field
