(edited for clarity)
Hey community,
In one of our customer order form workflows, we have an internal form step that needs to be sent to and completed by either one of two of our finance folks. We'd like to split the volume in half, sending half the workflows (roughly) to one and the other half to the other. Any creative ideas on a formula or data field upon which to build a conditional assignment that would accomplish this, or near about?
For example, a straightforward way to do this, in theory, would be to do it alphabetically--if the counterpart name starts with A-K it goes to one of the individuals, K-Z, or w/e the breakdown is, goes to the other. In combing through the formulas, it's not clear that this would be possible.
I also thought about using workflow IDs (odd/even), but given that this is a text-based field, I don't think that would work. The best thing I can come up with is splitting them according to who the workflow owner is, but the volume may not be uniform for each person and don't want to build a rule that may include 30+ name answers and would need to be updated frequently.
Any thoughts? Or anyone have experience doing something similar? Appreciate it!
Best,
Brann
