File Attachment field - link to related records?

Hi folks,

I'd like to know whether the form field "File Attachment", which enables Workflow Owners to upload documents, could be auto-completed by referring to a related record?

The use case we have is for a contract amendment. We would like to attach the original contract as an exhibit. It would be great if our users could select the related record from a dropdown list, and then it is automatically added to the addendum as "Exhibit A".

Perhaps there is another way to do this and I'm over-engineering it!

It'd be great to get your thoughts.
