Conditionally terminate a contract

Is it possible to have a set up where a termination letter is generated, and based on the effective date of the termination letter, the parent contract status moves from Active → Expired/Inactive/Terminated?

Example:

MSA exists in the Repository, and it is Evergreen. We want to terminate the MSA, so we generate a Termination Letter, with the MSA as the parent contract. After the Termination Letter is signed, on the effective date of the Termination Letter, the Termination Letter status = active and the MSA status = inactive.
