Me and my team at companjon.com started using Ironclad this year. During implementation we encountered several issues that we tried to solve with Ironclad support. They tried and were very responsive but could not really help. Instead, support proposed that we post and discuss our problems here in the community forum. It would be great if community could help us. After using now Ironclad for a couple of months, , we find ourselves disillusioned and a little bit desperate. However, before changing providers, we first want to be really sure that the problem is not us.
Problem 3/8: We have a couple of legal entities that sign contracts on our side. Accordingly, we need to be able to define workflows where you choose at the beginning which of our entities is the signing party of an agreement.
I was probably a little bit naïve in thinking that all users of Ironclad have this issue and that Ironclad supports defining own entities that then can be easily added to workflows, including related data like e.g. addresses or signatories. Unfortunately, this seems not the case, Ironclad assumes that its users only issue contract with one legal entity / party, or that they define separate workflows for each entity. I cannot see how the latter solution is efficient. It would e.g. require that we define a separate NDA workflow for each entity (currently 6), and that whenever we change or update our NDA or NDA workflow, we must update six workflows.
With the help of our implementation support we were able to create a workaround that defines a record type for each legal entity, and one record for each entity record type with the information like address etc. of such entity. The workaround is cumbersome and has some issues we could not yet resolve, e.g. that the address as saved in the record can only be looked up in text format, but must be added in workflow form as address format.
I was very surprised that the use of different legal entities is not a built in feature in Ironclad. Also I'm sure that other users must have the same challenge as we have, we're a small company with only 70 employees, but six entities (and growing), and I assume that the bigger users of Ironclad must have hundreds of entities that sign contracts.
How are you solving this issue? How do you manage different legal entities? Does anyone else use the record type / entity record type workaround? If yes, how do you solve the address text/address type format issue?
