Dear Community
Me and my team at companjon.com started using Ironclad this year. During implementation we encountered several issues that we tried to solve with Ironclad support. They tried and were very responsive but could not really help. Instead, support proposed that we post and discuss our problems here in the community forum. It would be great if community could help us. After using now Ironclad for a couple of months, , we find ourselves disillusioned and a little bit desperate. However, before changing providers, we first want to be really sure that the problem is not us.
Problem 6/8: We have some e.g. IT contracts that are updated regularly, e.g. every three years, or sporadically. This means that the new contract replaces the old one. It seems that Ironclad has no built in features that allow to link these contracts.
There are different ways on how such different versions are managed through Ironclad, mainly contracts that are negotiated / signed outside of Ironclad and contracts that are processed through an Ironclad workflow.
I discussed with support the first option, and they informed that there is no built-in feature to replace an outdated contract with a new one. One workaround suggested by support was to use the "Add a document" function on the right hand section of the repository, and to clarify which is the old/new version of the contract by using respective filenames. This has the advantage that you do not have to update all metadata again, but has the disadvantage that you have to manually manage the filenames with respective risks of errors / mistakes.
As regards the second option, when you create a new version of a contract through a workflow, I don't have any idea on how you then link the old and new version together.
My question to the community: How do you manage contracts that are updated from time to time? How do you add the information to the new contract that this contract replaces a previous version, and how do you link to the previous version? How do you add the information to the previous version, that this version is no longer active, but has been replaced with a new version, and how do you link the two records?
