Idea: Allow workflow owner to edit the info in a workflow and re-create the documents

Use case: currently, when you redline a document as a workflow owner, that data does not get reflected in the metadata. And if you Edit Info, that update does not get reflected in the documents.

Allow users to Edit info & in addition to resetting the approvals, reset the entire document.

For example, a workflow for an MSA may have a question & condition to include a SLA document or paragraph. If the workflow creator selects “No” when the document is created, the SLA will not be included. But during negotiations, the owner needs to add the SLA in, but is now forced to add it in manually.

I want to amend my comment. I just tested it out and I can add the SLA Document to the workflow, but I can not add a SLA paragraph to the workflow.

My ask is to have the option (or force users, based on permissions) to "regenerate from template".

Just had to teach a Sales Rep the reason why he needs to update the metadata & also the word doc, because the system will not regenerate the doc... It's quite frustrating.

The other workaround is to cancel the workflow and start over from scratch. But that seems a bit messy and we lose valuable data that we want to use for workflow insights.

Worst part of Ironclad is that the link between the template and the
document gets broken. They have been working on this for some time, but
nothing had made it to the product yet. Hard problem.

Start Over From Template

You can restart your contract from your template. Previously, if you started negotiating a contract or a counterparty uploaded a document, you could not generate from that template any longer. You can now start over from your template by clicking Start over from template.

This is a fantastic new feature!!! Thanks for posting @David_Wieseneck. What this does not yet solve is the issue where you want to edit the document, but keep the meta-record information in sync at the same time.

Smart Merge is great, as is Start Over. However, regarding the latter, a document has to be edited within Ironclad for the Start Over option to appear. This limits the usefulness. If I choose counterparty paper, upload a PDF, and later want to change it to our own template, I can't do that because I can't edit a PDF within Ironclad. Or if we use our template but immediately realize that we need to start over with a different template, we have to edit the document in order for the Start Over option to appear. I did submit a product feature request so this functionality can be expanded. Or is there a reason for limiting Start Over to edited Word docs?
