Love the idea of the new Counterparty Collaborations feature, & I really want to take full advantage of the functionality.
Is anyone using it yet? Any feedback to share with the community?
Here is some of my thoughts and some of the push back that I hear from my Sales team:
- The sales team is usually negotiating with the counterparty prior to kicking off the workflow, so they already have an email thread with the counterparty. When the Workflow Owner invites a counterparty, they would like to share a link in that email thread, instead of sending an email from the Ironclad system so that the counterparty has full context.
- When inviting a counterparty, the Workflow Owner must fill out the email address of the counterparty. But usually the counterparty contact email is already filled out during the intake form. This creates double work.
- The counterparty receives an email from Ironclad with almost no indication that this is from our company (Demostack) & there is no Demostack branding. This creates confusion & friction, which our sales team does not want. They will just not use this feature if there is friction.
- Even though, the invite says that the email will have an attached document, the email only has a link, no attachments. This is confusing.
- Lastly - the counterparty is forced to sign-up for a service they do not know (hopefully Ironclad is soon as ubiquitous as Docusign 😎). The counterparty does not want to sign up for a service just to negotiate the contract. Especially if if it an NDA.
They have to create a Password & accept Ironclad's ToS & PP. I don't know about you all (Legal Professionals), but I would not want my team members accepting some random company's ToS & PP without review.
This creates more friction. Imagine if Docusign forced all esigners to sign up for an account (even if free)...
Also, no Company branding to ease the friction or alleviate the confusion.
PS - some Counterparties may be individuals, not companies - for example, Employment or IC agreements. It does not make sense to force these individuals to fill out a "Company Name".
