Coming back on here to advocate for a product feature. The more of us that agree, perhaps the sooner it will happen!
Currently in Ironclad, once a workflow is active, all relevant participants can edit property fields — even if those fields contain sensitive, business-critical data. In my case, we have a “Deal Desk Reporting” section where the Deal Desk team can: Flag priority contracts; Add (or REMOVE!) legal as an approver; Toggle fields that affect downstream processes.
These fields directly influence priority handling, legal review triggers, and reporting accuracy. If an unauthorized user edits these values — even accidentally — it can compromise our data integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency.
While whole-workflow visibility rules, stage-specific fields, and locked fields exist, none fully solve the need for true property-level edit permissions tied to role or group. This isn’t just a convenience feature — it’s a core security control for managing sensitive contract workflows at scale.
Even if taking editing individual fields is too much to ask, can we at least be able to edit the group permissions to "edit properties on existing workflow" or something? Just to deactivate that capability for certain users (cough sales cough).
My current strategy for mitigating this... hope that the requestors don't figure out it exist. NOT a real strategy!
