Hi Product Team,
I’m writing to recommend that Ironclad add a native mobile app (iOS/Android) to the product roadmap, with an approvals-first V1 focused on “moment-of-need” tasks. A growing share of our approvers—especially executive leadership—along with field leaders, sales managers, and legal owners on call, work primarily from their phones. Today, critical actions like reviewing key terms and deviations, approving blocks with required reasons, responding to @mentions, and attaching supporting photos or documents often wait until someone is back at a laptop. The result is avoidable approval latency, SLA risk, and uneven adoption during non-desk hours.
Current workarounds—mobile web plus email links or email-only approvals—get us partway there, but the experience isn’t purpose-built. Tap targets are small, navigation requires too much context switching, there are no timely push notifications to drive action, and email approvals can fragment the audit trail and weaken playbook enforcement. In short, we’re leaving speed and governance on the table.
A focused native app would close this gap. For V1, the scope that delivers the most impact with the least complexity centers on approvals, comments, and visibility. Executives and approvers should be able to receive a notification, open directly to the relevant task or workflow, see the essentials at a glance (summary, counterparties, key dates, deviations), approve or decline with a required reason, and leave comments or @mentions that immediately notify the right stakeholders. A simple “My Tasks / Waiting on Me” view, reliable search with a quick record summary, and the ability to add attachments from camera or files would cover the majority of mobile use cases. The experience should meet enterprise expectations from day one, including secure sign-in, appropriate device controls, strong data protection, and complete auditability.
Beyond V1, there is clear headroom. Lightweight workflow launch for short intake forms would enable fast initiations in the field. Offline drafting for comments and approvals would preserve momentum in low-connectivity environments. A mobile-friendly preview for common document formats could further reduce laptop dependency when quick triage is all that’s needed.
We expect meaningful, measurable impact from even a narrowly scoped first release. Median and 95th-percentile time-to-approve should drop significantly for mobile-first approvers (targeting a 25–40% improvement). Weekly active approvers should rise as executive leaders engage through notification-driven entry points rather than email alone, and SLA breaches tied to “waiting on approval” should fall. We’d track success via time-to-approve, the share of approvals completed on mobile, notification open-to-action conversion, WAU/MAU within the approver cohort, and a decline in email-only approvals that improves auditability.
There are predictable foundations to plan for: dependable notifications and routing into the right screen, role-aware feature controls, parity in audit trail and retention with the web experience, accessibility for small screens, and product telemetry to guide iteration.
Given the distributed nature of modern leadership and field operations, this is a high-priority opportunity. An approvals-and-comments V1 would deliver immediate value while laying the groundwork for richer mobile workflows over time. I can provide anonymized data on approval delays to establish a baseline and, if helpful, assemble a 10–20-person pilot cohort of executive leaders and approvers. We’re also prepared to support change management with communications, training, and KPI tracking to validate impact quickly.
Best,
Isis
